About
The programme was constructed to address not just the needs of school students looking for a balanced and variable programme, but also that of other key players in the process of providing work experience (doctors, schools and career advisors, HR personnel)
Aims:
- To provide an fair and accessible route of access to medical work experience for all school students
- To illustrate the numerous working practices and specialities open to medical graduates, beyond the limited scope of what is often considered to be a typical 'white coat' doctor
- To give students an objective view of medicine, in an unbiased environment, to foster a generation of medics truly aware of their potential future career
- To create a seamless and flexible scheduling process for clinical staff to support school students in their exposure to broad fields of medicine The overarching vision was to create a model for work experience that did not 'tick boxes' in a school students consideration of medicine, but provided valuable insights, and in the background was an efficient and effectively co-ordinated between all key players
